U.S. Oil And Gas Put Squeeze On Alternative Energy

Normally, when oil and gas prices accelerate on both sides of the Atlantic, alternative energy sources come into focus and become a big part of that ?energy independence? discussion.

Well, not this time.

During the run up to mid-$4 gas and $147 a barrel oil in 2008, many assumed these costs would continue to advance. That made alternative sources ? especially renewables such as solar, wind, biofuels, and geothermal ? more attractive to investors, politicians, and energy enthusiasts.

Alternative sources are more expensive than conventional oil, gas, or coal. They are, however, more environmentally friendly. Paying those higher costs was regarded as a tradeoff for cleaner energy sources and a reduction in emissions. That view has changed. And it?s part of the reason why I?ve recently avoided alternative energy companies like First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR), Canadian Solar (Nasdaq: CSIQ) or SunPower Corporation (Nasdaq: SPWR) in my Energy Advantage portfolio.

It is hardly a convincing argument anymore, especially during a sluggish economic recovery. The economic downturn has made reliance on more expensive energy sources a difficult proposition to accept.

Yes, increasing oil and gas prices should reduce the spread between conventional and renewable, thereby providing stronger arguments for change. And proponents argue that alternatives provide an enhanced advantage given that they can also be domestically produced.

Just don?t bet on these arguments holding up this time. Here?s why.

The main difference in the current environment is the huge unconventional oil and gas reserves existing in the United States. Both are energy ?game changers,? transforming the energy balance and expectations of sourcing well into the future. I?m speaking here of shale and tight oil and gas, coal bed methane, bitumen, heavy oil, and oil sands. Each of these requires much greater commitments of energy to produce energy (so the ?Energy Returned for Energy Invested, or EROEI, is worse) that do conventional oil and gas.

That means there is a cost premium added to the overall increase in oil and gas prices now underway.

The caveat is the amount of reserves available. The large amount of unconventional oil and gas existing on the American market, buttressed by synthetic oil flows from the oil sands in Canada, is transforming the energy balance. And this transformation is dramatic.

Foreign Imports Wane in New Era of American Energy

In 2012, the U.S. is likely to import a smaller amount of its daily crude oil needs than at any time in decades. Preliminary figures could put that as low as 49% of domestic demand. To put matters into perspective, we were looking at 67% only three years ago.

The picture for gas is even more optimistic. Five years ago, I remember sitting in a policy meeting at which the consensus pointed to 15% of U.S. gas needs being imported as liquefied natural gas (LNG) by 2020. Today, we are poised to see American LNG exports comprising some 9% to 12% of the world market in 10 years or less.

Shale gas alone has provided what looks like a century or more of gas reserves; very little was estimated in the early 2000s. Today, the U.S. market could increase gas production by 25% each year for the foreseeable future without tapping anything beyond what we already know is extractable.

Now nobody will do that, of course. It would destroy the market and drive every operator out of business. But knowing that it could be done is a major restraint on prices. Those prices will rise over time as major new demand sources for gas are phased in. These include:

  • The significant ongoing shift from coal to gas for electricity production;
  • Greater reliance on gas for feeder stock in petrochemical manufacturing;
  • The coming LNG export push; and,
  • Increasing use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel.

All of which brings us back to today?s subject.

Undercutting the Alternative Energy Argument

With the movement to exploiting unconventional domestic sources of oil and gas, one of the primary arguments in favor of alternative energy is undercut. Absent any major breakthrough in technology (inverters for example, that would dramatically decrease the loss of electricity from solar and wind generation), the cost differential will remain.

Despite the rise in oil and gas prices, alternatives will still be more expensive to utilize, even before considering the infrastructure expenses for delivery and support that would have to be introduced. The rise of shale gas and oil, along with the large volumes of other unconventional reserves present, make a move to alternatives less likely.

Concerns about the economic recovery remain paramount, given the major position held by energy ? both its availability and its cost. Once concerns about a double dip are over, Europe appears to have its house in order and financial cliffs are avoided, we may approach this differently. And genuine considerations about environmental stewardship may again become central to the discussion. But some of those concerns have come into focus with the recent announcement that carbon emissions have reached a 20-year low in the United States.

This month, the U.S. Energy Information Agency cited ?low-priced natural gas? as the primary driver of the steep emissions decline, as natural gas is replacing more-carbon intensive coal as a greater source of electricity generation.

This does not bode well for the prospects of alternative energy.

Florida Marlins 1996 Donruss Team Set

Florida Marlins 1996 Donruss Team Set

It?s amazing how this team set looks nothing like the team of players that would go on to win the World Series title just one season later.

Yes, some of the pieces were in place, but not enough to truly remind me of ?my team? that won the championship just one season later.

Here is the set:

Kind of funny, but Andre Dawson?s card looks a lot more like that of a coach than a player.? 1996 was Dawson?s final season in the majors, and he played in 42 games that year.? The least that Donruss could have done was give us one final card showing Dawson at the plate or in the field.

It does have me wonder what kind of coach Andre could be.? He has stated publicly that he has no intention of becoming a manager ? but I know one thing:? He would not accept any of the crap that some of today?s ?stars? bring to the game.

Go Get ?Em Hawk!!!

Governments of Canada and New Brunswick Commemorate New Economical Residential Undertaking in Moncton

By Nick Gilbert

Canada??s Economic Action Plan, the federal government??s initiative to give a boost to the economy and generate new employment opportunities during the world-wide recession, has enabled financing to the extent of $3.37 million for the undertaking. The provincial and federal governments are donating equally to this $75 million total investment as per the amended Canada-New Brunswick Affordable Housing Program Agreement.

Robert Goguen, Member of Parliament for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, declared that the Harper government is offering support to people in need in Moncton and in the country. He expressed pleasure that the government??s donation of $ 1,120,000 has gone a long way in providing economical and good quality residences and has helped in the financial welfare of the whole neighborhood.

According to Honorable Sue Stultz, New Brunswick Minister for Social Development and the minister in charge of housing, contributing to residential projects is very vital to re-building New Brunswick. She expressed pleasure in this undertaking, which underlines the government's dedication to improve the lifestyle of the population of New Brunswick, also showing them ways to live within their means.

R.C.L. Developments is a 56-unit construction situated at 257 Robinson in Moncton. Besides the $1.12 million the undertaking received in the form of federal housing financing for the elderly with low earnings and incapacitated persons granted through Canada's Economic Action Plan, it also obtained $2.25 million as rent supplements for the 28 units from the provincial government.

Brazil: Venezuela Joins Mercosul ? Miami International Business ...

Posted on by The Victoria Law Group

Despite huge disagreement and controversy among Mercosul members, President Hugo Ch?vez met with the leaders of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay in Bras?lia Tuesday to formalize Venezuela?s entrance to Mercosul ? six years after the oil-rich Caribbean nation?s first attempt to join the trade bloc. The decision to let in Venezuela was taken, controversially, without Paraguay?s approval during that country?s suspension for Former President Fernando Lugo?s impeachment.? For those of you keeping score at home, it?s Mercosur in Spanish, and Mercosul in Portuguese.

Home Depot sees rosier year ahead as profit climbs

Better sales in the U.S. and healthy demand for its mainstay home-improvement products helped Home Depot's net income rise 13 percent in its fiscal second quarter the company reported Tuesday Aug. 14, 2012. (AP Photo/Sue Ogrocki)

(AP) ? The Home Depot Inc. is feeling more optimistic about the recovery of the housing market after customers spent more on remodeling and repair projects in the second quarter.

The country's biggest home-improvement retailer said Tuesday that stronger sales of paint, bath accessories and kitchen installations helped lift its net income by 12 percent during the period. Lower costs also contributed to the improved results.

The Atlanta-based company boosted its full-year earnings outlook, citing its performance so far this year.

Chairman and CEO Frank Blake noted in a conference call with investors that some of the strongest growth came from the markets that were hit hardest in the downturn, such as California and Florida.

"These are encouraging signs of stabilization in the housing market," Blake said.

When the housing market is weak, companies such as Home Depot struggle because new construction slows and contractors don't spend as much on supplies. Homeowners also pull back on projects, such as kitchen or bathroom renovations.

In the latest quarter, however, Home Depot said it saw signs of improvements in key areas.

Overall, revenue at stores open at least a year rose 2.1 percent. In the U.S., where the majority of Home Depot's stores are located, the figure rose 2.6 percent. The metric is a key gauge of a retailer's health because it strips out the impact of recently opened or closed locations.

Sales of spray paint, laminated flooring and area rugs saw double-digit sales growth, the company said. Sales of paint, bath accessories, special order carpeting, window treatments and wood flooring also improved.

Transactions of $900 or more, which make up about 20 percent of U.S. sales, rose 3.4 percent in the quarter, as appliance, kitchen and flooring sales increased. Transactions of $50 or less, which also make up about 20 percent of sales, were down 0.7 percent.

The company attributed the decline to the warm winter, which it said pulled sales of seasonal items, such as gardening products, into the first quarter.

Home Depot's total operating expenses also eased to $4.46 billion during the quarter, down 3 percent from a year ago. The improvement was partly the result of a new regulation that caps the amount banks can charge retailers when customers pay with debit cards.

In the second half of the year, however, Home Depot expects expenses to rise as it spends on new call centers and other operational improvements.

Looking ahead, Home Depot now expects fiscal 2012 earnings of $2.95 per share, up from the $2.90 per share it previously forecast. Sales are still expected to rise 4.6 percent, implying revenue of $73.63 billion.

Analysts expect earnings of $2.92 per share on revenue of $73.95 billion.

Home Depot runs more than 2,200 stores. Its smaller rival Lowe's Cos. reports its earnings Monday.

Shares of Home Depot rose $1.60, or 3 percent, to $54.42 in morning trading.

"Raiders of the Lost Ark" opens one-week Imax run September 7

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - That boulder Indiana Jones runs from will never be bigger than on September 7, when "Raiders of the Lost Ark" begins a one-week Imax re-release.

Tickets to see the 1981 adventure film classic were available online Tuesday via theater sites, brokers including Fandango, and at Imax.com.

Paramount wasn't commenting on the Imax run Tuesday, but the studio is releasing its "Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures" for the first time on Blu-ray on September 18.

Steven Spielberg, who directed the film and helped with the Imax conversion, told the New York Times that the look of the film and the special effects would remain the same, though the audio has been changed to surround sound.

"When the boulder is rolling, chasing Indy through the cave, you really feel the boulder in your stomach, the way you do when a marching band passes by, and you're standing right next to it," he said.

Spielberg said he had no plans to do Imax conversions of the other "Indiana Jones" films or any of his other movies. He is converting his "Jurassic Park" to 3D for a rerelease next year.

Harrison Ford and Karen Allen starred in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." George Lucas executive produced.

UNC focused on new season, not old NCAA questions

At the annual "Meet the Heels" event in Chapel Hill Saturday, coaches, players and fans of the University of North Carolina football team were all rooting for the same thing: tough, smart, physical players who hit the books as hard as they hit their opponents.

A new face on the sideline, head coach Larry Fedora, could be a symbol that the Tar Heels have turned a corner. After two years of NCAA scrutiny, players and fans are ready to move on. Fans, Heels kick off new season

Freshman long snapper Conor Fry said,?"With Fedora coming to UNC, I think it's easy because he's brought so much good energy. Positive vibes are here, so I think everyone's mind is off of that."

"That" is the fact that even if they win all 12 regular season games, this year's team has no chance at an ACC Championship or a bowl game.

They are still paying the price for the Tar Heels who flouted NCAA rules about contact with agents, accepted gifts and got too much help from a tutor. In March, the NCAA vacated all 16 wins from UNC's 2008 and 2009 seasons. It imposed the one-year postseason ban on the team, along with?three years of probation, through March 11, 2015, and a loss of five scholarships in each of the next three?seasons.

Saturday's?combination practice, pep rally and autograph session put the focus back on the current players and their performance.?

"We're just going out there and doing our jobs, helping out the seniors, making sure they get a good season," said Miller Snyder, a sophomore kicker.

Fedora said his team would move forward, one step at a time.

"Right now all we're worried about is working hard during camp, preparing for the season and then getting ready for Elon," he said.

The Heels open against the Phoenix at Kenan Stadium Sept. 1 at 12:30 p.m.

But so much new cheating has been discovered. There has been a system set up at UNC to keep athletes eligible via phone classes an AF/AM studies with advisors routing students to the fake classes. That is huge.?

Yep. That is a fact. ewenc was caught cheating, put on NCAA probation, AND then after all that prof. kangaroo created fake/questionable classes. That is a fact !?- Posted by TwKaMF
Just curious, why do you call him Prof. Kangaroo? I'm sensing some bias here...but maybe it's just me...nah, bias pure and hateful.

I'm smellin more nervousness out of the Red Rage contingent than a guy that cleans septic tanks smells IT. Or maybe it's the orderly took a day off and you Red Ragers have messed yourselves. State fans are so fun. They revere a man who was notorious for, ahem, let's just say "relaxed" academic standards (i'll let yall look for yourselves at his multiple offenses over several years) and rarely actually even graduated players (not to mention players selling tickets and gear on his watch) and left the program in such a sorry state it took them 20 years to turn it around. They hang his name from the rafters and worship him as a hero (for one lucky title run, no less). And somehow still manage to act holier than thou in all of this. You guys do know the NCAA already has seen all this information that is being reported as "new" over the last few weeks right? I'm assuming not given the uneducated posts on here and other places. Blind jealousy leading you to want some police action to dismember a program simply because you know your athletic program can't surpass it on its own merit. How sad. But here's a news flash. UNC athletics can disappear from the face of the earth. And the Wolfpack athletic program will still be a second rate outfit and its supporters will still be the most uneducated and obnoxious in the ACC.?

Indiana Tax Reporter: Journal-Gazette Article Details Methods by ...

From a lengthy article by Benjamin Lanka in?the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette:

Fort Wayne?s financial picture was laid bare last week: Action must be taken in the next year to avoid a crisis.
...

Here is a look at several of the options available to the city and how they would affect different entities:

Raise income taxes to lower property taxes

How: City Council vote needed.

What: State law allows local governments to raise income tax rates to subsidize local property tax bills. Under this scenario, any money raised by the higher income taxes would be directly spent to reduce property taxes. The benefit can be given just to homeowners, to homeowners and rental property owners or to all property owners.

Effect on taxpayers: Everyone would pay more in income taxes, but not everyone would see a reduction in property tax bills because of property tax caps. Residents below the tax caps ? generally people in smaller homes or those in rural areas ? would see their bills drop. Residents whose bills have already hit the caps ? those with larger homes and in municipalities ? are unlikely to see any change in their annual bill. Some residents right at the cap amount might see lowered property taxes, depending on several factors.

Effect on government: The move would reduce the revenues lost to tax caps for many local governments and school districts. For example, a 0.5 percent income tax increase would generate nearly $35 million in property tax relief. This scenario would net about $6.3 million in additional annual revenue for Fort Wayne and $3 million for Allen County.

Raise income taxes for public safety

How: City Council vote needed, and previous or simultaneous vote needed to raise income taxes to lower property taxes.

What: State law allows local governments to implement a 0.25 percent public safety income tax as long as it has implemented at least a 0.25 percent income tax to reduce property taxes. This would be a straight tax increase for new revenues.

Effect on taxpayers: Workers who pay income taxes would pay more.

Effect on government: Fort Wayne, Allen County and area towns would get more money. A 0.25 percent income tax would generate about $17 million, of which the city would get roughly half. While the money must be used for public safety, it can replace money already going to that effort, effectively creating new revenue for whatever is most pressing.

Eliminate local homestead credit

How: City Council vote needed.

What: More than $10 million in local income tax revenues annually are used to reduce local property tax bills for homeowners. It reduces tax rates by supplementing property tax revenues with income taxes. The council could decide such a benefit is no longer needed with property tax caps in place.

Effect on taxpayers: The opposite of creating a new income tax to lower property tax bills. Homeowners under the cap ? which are generally people in smaller homes or rural areas ? would pay higher property tax bills. Homeowners whose bills have hit the caps ? those with larger homes ? would not see any change in their bills.

Effect on government: It would generate more income tax revenue for local governments, but it would increase the property tax losses caused by tax caps. Fort Wayne would get about $4.4 million in new income tax revenue but lose $2.3 million in property taxes in 2013. Governments with no income tax revenue, such as school districts, would simply see a loss of tax revenue.

Reduce spending

How: Mayor could not spend his budget or City Council could cut future budgets.

What: Fort Wayne officials could reduce their spending to meet the projected revenue gap, although they said such drops would likely mean eliminating or significantly reducing some services.

Effect on taxpayers: No change to taxes, but residents could notice a change in service levels.

Effect on government: Reduced money for streets, building maintenance and possibly government service. Controller Pat Roller said dramatic cuts would require the city to determine what services are needed and which could be discontinued or drastically reduced. Government salaries would likely remain flat.

To put a cut of $3 million to $6 million in perspective, the mayor?s office budget is $1.4 million; the city?s community development department has a total budget of $4.3 million; and city parks budgeted $8.8 million for staff this year.

Spend cash reserves

How: Mayor could propose budgets using cash reserves, City Council also would approve them.

What: Fort Wayne has about $18 million in cash reserves, plus a $3 million rainy day fund, plus nearly $75 million to be received from the lease and sale of its electric utility. The electric money won?t be fully realized for more than a decade, however.

Effect on taxpayers: No change to taxes or services, at least for the short term.

Effect on government: Cash reserves would dwindle. Money from the utility sale would no longer be available for bold legacy projects as desired by Mayor Tom Henry. City Councilman John Crawford, R-at large, supports this effort as a way to ride out a difficult economy ? one he thinks is only going to get worse ? without increasing taxes.

Increase the wheel/surtax

How: Allen County Council vote needed.

What: In 2009, the County Council narrowly approved raising the base surtax on license plate fees from $7.50 to $20 and the wheel tax on heavy trucks from $15 to $30 to generate more revenue for bridge and road repairs. The base surtax could be raised to a maximum of $25, and the base wheel tax could be raised to a maximum of $40.

Effect on taxpayers: Anyone who owns a vehicle would pay more to register it with the state.

Effect on government: Maximizing the two taxes would generate an additional $1.4 million in surtaxes and less than $100,000 in wheel taxes, according to Auditor Tera Klutz. Fort Wayne?s share of the two increases would be nearly $1 million, with the remainder being shared by Allen County and other municipalities. The money must be used to pay for road improvements but could then divert other revenues to other purposes.

Increase fees and fines

How: Proposal by the mayor approved by the City Council.

What: The city charges a variety of fees and fines such as $5 parking tickets and costs for permits. Controller Roller said she is preparing a comprehensive package of fee updates to present to the council before the 2013 budget discussion in October. The city could even change its cost-sharing policies on neighborhood improvements, such as sidewalks, to make residents pay for more of the total price.

Effect on taxpayers: People who do business with the city ? or who park illegally ? would be forced to pay more. Fees that are raised too high could deter investment in the city or compliance with city rules.

Effect on government: The government would see increased revenues directly tied to the services provided. Some examples of existing revenues: In 2010, the city earned nearly $400,000 in animal control licenses and fees, $268,961 for right-of-way permits and $286,534 for cutting tall weeds. Raising the fees would allow users of those services to pay more of their costs, allowing the city to divert tax revenues elsewhere.

Create a capital development fund

How: City Council vote needed, likely with mayoral support.

What: Many governments, ranging from Allen County to Woodburn to South Bend, have a separate, additional property tax rate to raise money for infrastructure projects. Fort Wayne has to this point chosen not to use this mechanism.

Effect on taxpayers: This would increase property tax rates but only affect those property owners not at their tax cap. This would include owners of smaller homes, rural residents and several businesses. Property owners already at the tax cap, including owners of larger homes and rental properties, would not see an increase in their bill because of this.

Effect on government: Such a fund could raise up to $4 million annually for Fort Wayne, but the city would lose about half of that to tax caps. The money would be designated for infrastructure but could divert other revenue going to streets, buildings, etc. The move would also reduce property tax revenues for all other local governments ? the county, schools, etc. ? because Fort Wayne would take a greater percentage of a limited property tax pie.

Property tax referendum

How: Tax increase would be approved by voters in a citywide election.

What: State law allows local governments to raise additional property tax money outside the tax caps if voters approve such a plan in a referendum. The extra revenue essentially allows the government to borrow money to finance infrastructure. Fort Wayne Community Schools this spring convinced voters to support a $119 million plan to repair numerous schools.

Effect on taxpayers: Property owners, regardless of their status with tax caps, would see an increase in their tax bills. Under the FWCS plan, owners of homes worth about $90,000 will see their tax bills rise by $27 annually.

Effect on government: The referendum would provide an immediate infusion of cash for capital expenses. The money could not be used for operating expenses ? the city couldn?t use it to hire police officers ? but it could be used to finance numerous neighborhood street projects, for example. Because the money is outside the tax caps, it would not affect other local governments.

Annexation

How: Proposal by the mayor approved by the City Council.

What: Fort Wayne grew its boundaries dramatically during the 1990s and continuing until 2006 with the annexation of much of Aboite Township. State law has made it more difficult to forcefully annex land, but the city has numerous properties outside its borders that signed annexation waivers in order to connect to City Utilities. The city has not aggressively pursued annexing these areas in recent years.

Effect on taxpayers: Property owners being annexed would see an increase in their tax bills if they are not yet at the tax caps. Residents already at the tax caps ? which would likely only be massive homes ? would not see an increase in their bills but would receive city services.

Effect on government: Tax caps make annexations not nearly as advantageous as in the past. Fort Wayne would receive more money from the annexed lands ? as all property owners would now be paying a portion of their total tax bills to the city even if the total amount doesn?t change. It would also face increased expenses to service those newly annexed lands.
Other governments would lose money because annexations would put more people at the tax caps, reducing property tax revenues for them. No financial numbers were available as to how much land was currently under an annexation waiver.

Muscle Building Tips You Need To Know About - Online Health ...

Building a solid muscled body can be done for necessity, sport, or fun. No matter what your reason for reducing body fat and gaining muscle, you need to know how to do it effectively, and that means getting informed. Read this article for helpful information.

The first step is to make sure you know your body?s limits. This can help you to develop an effective plan and set solid, yet realistic goals when it comes to your exercise regimen. You should take your current weight and body type into consideration when planning your work outs.

TIP! It?s vital that you begin exercising with warm-ups. Including ten or fifteen minute warm-ups can increase your blood flow and prepare your muscles for intense workouts.

Don?t be tempted into taking steroids. There are side effects, including slowing the body?s production of natural hormones. Also, consider that steroids can cause permanent damage to the liver, decrease the good cholesterol in your body, and might even make men develop breast tissue. They also increase acne and cause ?roid rage? which can lead to dangerous psychopathic behavior. Not exactly a nice looking picture, right?

Don?t allow your workouts to exceed one hour in duration. After an hour of working out, the body will produce cortisol at an increased rate. Extra cortisol may block testosterone and your efforts at muscle building can be wasted. Making sure that workouts are less than an hour helps you to get the best results.

You need to eat enough protein before you begin any workout. Before working out, consume 20 grams (or more) of whey protein. Doing so will ensure that your body does not burn through muscle during your fitness routine; it also makes it easier for your existing muscles to recover.

TIP! You should precede each weight lifting session with at least 10 minutes of light stretching and warm up. This will help to prevent injury by warming up your muscles before they are asked to lift a heavy load.

Once you are done working out one muscle group, make sure that you take the time and stretch properly. This will help your muscles recover from the workout quicker. These stretches might be uncomfortable for you when you do them, but they will surely have a big impact in developing your muscle tissue.

A nutritious diet is critical if you wish to build larger muscles. Without proper nutrition, it will be difficult for your body to regenerate muscle fibers. There have been studies done that show drinking protein shakes after a workout is beneficial for muscle fiber rebuilding.

If you want to build muscle, and you are an adult, you might consider using a creatine supplement. Creatine will increase your energy and help you get more mass. Throughout many years, this has led the market in weight training supplements. If you are still a teenager and not done growing, then you need to avoid taking supplements.

TIP! Working out with your friends and family can help you to stay motivated. This will provide you with encouragement, which in turn, gives you the motivation you require to push yourself.

Consider a creatine supplement to help boost your muscle gain. Creatine adds muscle size and increases strength by as much as ten pounds in the first few weeks, just by allowing you to work harder and longer. Before you workout, and right afterwords, eat about 3 to 5 grams of creatine to get the best results.

Vegetables offer many benefits when you are building muscle. Diets that are designed to promote muscle growth typically emphasize protein and complex carbs while placing much less importance on vegetables. There are plenty of healthy nutrients in vegetables that are not included in foods rich in carbohydrates and proteins. Vegetables are also rich in fiber. Fiber allows the body to use protein effectively.

While you might not want the physique of a bodybuilder, you can still build muscle as a way to improve your life. It can raise your self-esteem, provide your body with greater strength, improve the functioning of your joints, plus strengthen your lungs if it is done in conjunction with some form of light to moderate cardio workout.

TIP! Try to train opposing muscles in the same workout, including the chest with your beck or the quads with the hamstrings. This will let one muscle group rest while the other is working.

Increase your protein intake to build your muscle mass. Protein is the base of muscles, and if you don?t get enough, your muscles will suffer. You should consume up to one protein gram per pound that you weigh.

It is important to stay hydrated when building muscle. If you are not properly hydrating yourself, then your muscles will experience fatigue easier and you just might face injury. Also, hydration has a big part in maintaining your muscles and increasing them during workouts, so you need water for many different reasons.

A good muscle building program should prioritize strength above all else. This will result in your ability to lift weights that are heavier. Beginners should see improvements of five percent more weight every two workouts. If you consistently fall short of this goal, figure out what you might be doing wrong. If you feel weak during this workout session, it is possible you are not entirely recovered from your last session.

TIP! It may be possible to make yourself appear larger than you do already. You can do this by focusing on the higher chest, your upper back and your shoulders.

Depending on supplements will only let you down over time. Supplements are beneficial to muscle-building efforts. However, they should not replace proper nutrition. They are only meant to supplement an already healthy diet. Try not to take that many supplements.

Making short-term goals, attaining them, and then rewarding yourself for doing so, can be a great motivator. It takes a long time to build muscle so do not get discouraged and do not give up. Set rewards which will reinforce healthy muscle building behavior. For instance, you could get a massage. A massage improves your blood flow, and it assists you in recovering faster.

Some people mistakenly emphasize speed over technique while working out. No matter what type of exercise you are focussing on, keep your reps slower and concentrate on technique. You will find that you get much better results than if you speed through your routine. Slow down and double check that you?re doing the exercise properly.

TIP! Keep track of your own personal records for weight lifting. Increase your weights by 5% every other time you work out to better your records.

Make sure that you eat some food before and after every workout. If you are just starting out, try to find a snack that is high in protein. As you become more advanced in your routine, you can start to measure the number of carbs and grams of protein in your pre- and post-workout meals to help you build muscle even faster.

Now that you have read about new and helpful information on muscle building and weight lifting, you can apply these tips to your own routine. Take note of some of these tips, and read them as often as you need to in order to put the information to use. Soon you will be on the road to reaching your fitness and muscle building goals

Building Your Network Marketing Business

Building your network marketing business
correctly takes a lot of skill and knowledge if you are a so called ?noob? to the internet. Even some advanced experts have problems building a business online because truthfully there is a lot to it, especially if you are trying to automate things for the future. I think it is important that you understand building your network marketing business truly comes down to getting leads, traffic, conversions, branding and building relationships with your teammates. Many people may disagree with me as they consider themselves ?guru?s? which are people that make a lot of money but don?t interact with individuals one and one.

Building Your Network Marketing Business

Traffic: The first and most important thing that you need to help you build a business online is traffic. Traffic is just another word for ?people or prospects? that are finding you somehow whether it be a website, a YouTube video, a Facebook status or an advertisement. So how do we get traffic? Traffic is located all over the internet and really that is not actually the hard part of building your business online. The steps before finding traffic is actually more complicated, such as building a sales funnel and having it able to convert the way that you want it to. I will list of some of the main places that I personally gather traffic from:

#1: Craigslist

#2: YouTube

#3: Blogging & My Own Personal Niche Websites

#4: Facebook (Paid & Free Methods)

I provide my team with all of my secret methods of how to actually get traffic from these resources but since your at the blog I do feel obligated to give you a quick tip. For now I will give you some advice about Facebook. First you should create a fan page (which is branding you so make it look professional with a nice cover). Once your fan page is up you should invite tons of people to it and just have it as a sort of support group. NEVER PITCH your business or even mention it. Just ask questions, put up pictures and interact. Get people talking in this group and having them wanting to come back and interact with people over and over again. You can set up your advertisements on the side of the page and through application tabs. This is a non-shelaunt way of promoting your business without being like everyone else blasting your Business opportunity over and over again to the masses. I go over how to do this 100% of the way through to all of my team members simply because it works.

Leads: Now that we are getting traffic or understand the places that it can come from what exactly is a lead? If your building your network marketing business correctly your leads should be coming in consistently and you should have a follow up auto-responder series in place to keep things automated and building a relationship for you. When your leads see your opportunity they may be interested but not ready to join. If they get emails from you over a course of time they will let their guard down and eventually join your business.

If you like the concepts I am speaking about I do provide a 10 day free training bootcamp which helps people learn the basics of setting all of this up in motion. Just go to the top of the page and put your name & email in the form or you can go to the bottom of this blog and you will find the form again.

Branding & Building Relationships: Building a brand online is very important because it separates you from the crowd and allows you to be able to stand out. When you start getting noticed by other professionals and people start wanting to JV Partner with you is when everything will change in your life. It is amazing at how much you can accomplish with the right team. To brand yourself you can simply add a picture of you on everything you do. Personally I like to put it at the bottom of blog posts. Branding helps to allow people to build a relationship with you because they see you over and over again.

When you build a relationship with someone you have a better chance of them buying something from you. This is a major key in building your network marketing business online because a buying customer will remain loyal for years to come.

Conversions: This is actually the main key to building your network marketing business online. If you have a great site or video but it doesn?t actually convert the leads into sales then your not making any money. Mastering conversions is the key to monetizing your efforts and putting cash in your pockets.
